Diction Children

Behold, bored traveller!
     these diction children
of my restless mind

Conceived in the longest
     of nights
Born in the brightest
     of days

They march their way
     across the page
Shy but proud, depressed
     but optimistic

Assemble, my children!
     strut and show your goods
for the days of reckoning
     are near

So prepare. Beware

Your mettle shall be tested
     and tempered
Show yourselves true
     and rejoice

You must prove subtle yet firm
     shameless
Malleable yet original
     and resilient, undoubtedly

For you shall be tested
     by the uncaring masses
Only if you are lucky
     may you sway but one
